Hello, my name is Nicolas and I am a second year student in language sciences. I'm 39 years old, I live in France and more precisely in Alsace. I like fantasy in all its forms, cinema, series (especially science fiction), mangas, music (metal and others), playing role-playing games, reading mainly science fiction, fantasy, I do some carpentry.
The blog that I wish to set up here deals with the role-playing game in its mechanical aspect in a first time and will allow to welcome scenarios, technical sheets (characters, monsters...) and game aids in a second time. This blog should be aimed mainly at the initiated of the hobby but not only, it should allow to get an idea for a neophyte of the context of a game, of the human parameters to be taken into account and I hope not to frighten people coming to discover, by specifying that it is not necessary to master all these aspects but that it is rather useful to see it as a giant toolbox of which it is not useful to master every parameter to have fun. I hope to instil a sense of inclusivity towards the merely curious and not just for the 'experts' who are looking to improve but are ahead of the game. It would also be useful to report on the main anecdotes and questions from players and game masters about the game flow and plot tracking, attention and time management for example, also to exchange on small habits that may seem trivial (is eating during a game penalizing for tracking or not, do people present make the effort not to make mistakes? Do the people present make an effort not to look at their mobile phones during the game or on the contrary can they be useful as a support ..... ). It will also be useful to give some advice on the organisation of a game beforehand, the positive and negative points of the organisation methods, the creation of an availability calendar, how to deal with the absence of a player, the relevance or not of sending elements of the plot in advance to prepare the atmosphere of the evening, the way of doing it (a simple email or the drafting of fake documents scanned and artificially aged .... ) The aim is to be friendly, to have fun and to get feedback from other users.
Thank you for sharing your passion and vision for this blog, Nicolas! Your approach to demystifying the mechanics of role-playing games is both refreshing and welcoming. It's great to see a focus on inclusivity, making it accessible not only to seasoned players but also to newcomers who are curious about the hobby. Your detailed insights on game preparation, plot management, and player interactions will surely be valuable to many. I'm looking forward to reading more and learning from your experiences. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see the community that grows around your blog! Adam
